Today's Goal: To tell a short, structured story using the Past Simple and storytelling linkers.
Let's start by recycling our last lesson. It's your turn to be the teacher!
Please ask the "Have you ever...?" questions from your homework. I will answer them!
We use the Past Simple to talk about actions that are 100% finished. The story is complete.
The Formula: Subject + Verb-ed (regular) or Irregular Verb
Key Signal Words: We often use specific times with the Past Simple.
Linkers are words that connect your ideas and put them in order. They make your story easy to understand.
| Function | Linker Words | Example Sentence |
|---|---|---|
| To start the story | First... / One day... | First, I woke up late. |
| To continue the story | Then... / After that... | Then, I missed the bus. |
| To add a surprise | Suddenly... / Fortunately... | Suddenly, my friend called me. |
| To finish the story | In the end... / Finally... | Finally, I arrived at work. |
